The Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries Petroleum Commodities Section collects inspection fees on petroleum products sold, stored, used or offered for sale in the state.

Fees are submitted by approximately 500 companies marketing products in Alabama. Each company is required to furnish a monthly report of its sales and receipts by the 20th day of each month for the sales in the previous month on which the fees are computed and paid. Field auditors audit petroleum companies in the state and surrounding states for compliance to the law.
