Worker Protection Standard training materials

The Worker Protection Standard (WPS) requires you to provide safety measures and training to your agricultural workers and employees. It's time to review and update your WPS training materials at your farm or agribusiness if you haven't done so for several years. You may have posters or manuals that need to be replaced, or you may need to order new training materials. These items are part of the WPS training packets put together by the ISU Pest Management and the Environment Program staff. We will send you a WPS training packet that includes posters, a compliance manual, a training manual, one of the two videotapes described below, and an order form for other written materials.

The Worker Protection Standard Train the Trainer video will be included in the agribusiness packet. This videotape, produced at ISU, describes the WPS training requirements for workers and explains how you can become certified to train workers. The Farmer Responsibilities under the Worker Protection Standard video will be included in producer packet. This videotape provides a brief summary to help producers meet the requirements of the WPS.

To receive a WPS packet, please send an e-mail to jhornstn@iastate.edu, or FAX 515-294-8027, or call 515-294-1101 with your name, address, and phone number, and indicate whether you want the producer or agribusiness packet. We will ship the updated materials to you. The WPS videotapes and publications are available at no cost to Iowa residents and businesses because of a grant funded by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship through a grant from the U.S. EPA.
