The United States' National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work are working together to promote the sharing of information on current safety and health topics of common interest. This Web site provides links to information available from United States Federal Government agencies that have workplace safety and health responsibilities. NIOSH is the United States' agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services. By gathering information, conducting scientific research, and translating the knowledge gained into products and services, NIOSH provides national and world leadership to prevent work-related illness, injury, disability, and death. |
In addition to offering NIOSH resources, these pages provide links to other United States Federal Government safety and health agencies: The mission of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. OSHA is in the United States Department of Labor. The mission of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is to enforce compliance with mandatory safety and health standards as a means to eliminate fatal accidents; to reduce the frequency and severity of nonfatal accidents; to minimize health hazards; and to promote improved safety and health conditions in the Nation's mines. OSHA is in the United States Department of Labor. The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is to protect human health and the environment. The EPA conducts and supports research and education, and develops and enforces environmental regulations. |
