Streams and Rivers

Stream Streams near KBS have also long attracted the attention of ecologists, and nearby Augusta Creek has been the most intensively studied. This third-order stream originates in groundwater-fed lakes and passes through riparian wetlands and woodlands along much of its course, and it supports a trout fishery.

RiverAugusta Creek flows into theKalamazoo River, and comparative studies at several scales from the headwaters to the river were influential in the development of the River Continuum Concept. Contact Steve Hamilton for more information on local streams and rivers.
