A comprehensive business plan is fundamental to the development of a product or business, and a necessary prerequisite for obtaining outside financing. It is used to communicate the nature of the business and its prospects, and to establish a value for the business. Prospective investors and lenders will require a business plan and examine it carefully.

This section introduces a number of tools that can assist technology developers, suppliers, and investors in developing business plans and securing funding. It includes resources to help decide what to include in the business plan, and how to write the plan, identify potential funding sources, and present the business in the most appropriate manner for the targeted funding sources. The section includes resources on business planning and funding concepts and techniques as well as links to specific funding sources that have been known to have a particular interest in remediation and site investigation technologies.
