Training GrantsInput: Economic FactorsData presented by Liberty Mutual, American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and other organizations show a direct link to improved safety programs and reduced workers’ compensation costs. A 2001 survey of business executives showed that 61% felt that for every dollar spent on health and safety, they saved $3 or more. These same executives felt that the benefits went beyond saving money; saving workers’ health was a major concern. NIOSH funds training programs to provide the qualified workforce to implement OSH programs and should provide the same rate of return and more over the life span of a career. This return is mitigated by the length of time spent in an OSH career. |
