Research Interests

My overall research goals focus on putting ecological processes and mechanisms into a functional context, with a particular interest in how human activities have influenced the structure and function of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.  My past research has addressed microbial controls on belowground carbon and nutrient cycling in wetland and forest ecosystems, and how global environmental changes have altered those processes.
