Laboratory services include soil testing (including chemical and physical properties); toxicology i.e. poisons in the environment (including residue testing for milk and meat, quality assays for poison baits and pest control programmes, testing new control technologies); and
ecological genetics for refining conservation and pest management programmes.

Diagnostic services include biological indicators for monitoring the effects of contamination or pollution in soil or water; identification and risk assessment services for plants, fungi, insects and other invertebrate animals, and plant diseases (includes DNA analyses).
