Introduction
As part of the Measurement Standards Division, the Oregon State Metrology Laboratory maintains the primary and "working" standards of mass, volume, and length for the State of Oregon. These standards are directly traceable to the national standards maintained by the US Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The national standards of mass are traceable to the international 1 kg standard in Sevres, France. Utilizing precision equipment and test procedures in conjunction with these standards, the Metrology Laboratory provides calibration services to businesses, consumers, agencies, and institutions.
