Dear Sir, thank you for the article on table celery. I was looking for pictures depicting the growing stalk up the middle. I have grown celery for 13 years in a gravel culture hydroponic unit here in South Africa. My customer does not understand that table celery is suppossed to be a pale green and if the piteole is slightly yellow as it emergs from the root bowl, it is a sign of excellent growth and health qualities. I would appreciate it if you could confirm my understanding.

Dear Sir i have a question with regards to Blast cooling vegetables ie. baby corn. We put the product in a large cold room running at + 2 degrees.when we are about to dispatch the product we put the product infront of a blast cooling fan which is supposed to take out the remaining heat from the product. I do not think this is usefull since we are usin g the same refrigeration system. Is this a good way of blast cooling produce before dispatch.

I would like to know any research work done on this disease in UC Davis. Recently I come in contact with Dr. Adel Kader in New Delhi, India when I was participant in workshop on cold chain organised by USTDA in April 2008, where he was one of the faculty. We were benefitted immensely by his great knowledge and experience in the field. I wish him a great successful life in future. Since this workshop, I'm regular visitor of UC Davis website.

I am a Post Harvest Manager for Divemex a company that grows Hot House colored Bell Peppers in Mexico amongst other crops. Our distributor is the Oppenheimer group out of Vancouver. I have found that UC Davis post harvest research to be one of the most respected authorities in this field due to its accurate research. We have used UC Davis research information, in this and other companies both in the USA and Mexico, as guidelines to better our post harvest applications and maintain our cold chain and have been pleased with these results. Please feel free to contact us with any plans to further your research at any of our facilities both in Mexico and the US. I would also like to thank the many students and professors that have made these results possible and for focusing on areas that are of invaluable asset to the farming communities all over the world.
