    The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) Law Enforcement Division noticed an upswing in 'extreme' poaching cases in 2008.     The Warm Springs Hatchery, operated by the Department of Fish and Game (DFG), is vital to re-establishing endangered wild coho salmon to the Russian River Basin. This year, the innovative captive rearing and broodstock program conducted at the hatchery continued its success with the release of 92,000 fingerling coho salmon and the spawning of captive-reared wild coho broodstock.

  • Feather River and Nimbus Hatcheries Meet Salmon Egg Take Goals
    The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) announced today that Feather River and Nimbus hatcheries met salmon egg collection goals for Sacramento Fall-Run Chinook. These hatcheries are two of the biggest state-operated salmon hatcheries in California and are key to sustaining this important stock of salmon. They took more than 16.9 million eggs for rearing of this stock.
