As environmental problems become more urgent, so too does the need for professionals with adequate training in environmental fields. Environmental issues are complex and global, and a special type of understanding is required to find the best solutions. People who work in environmental fields need to understand how various perspectives, disciplines, and cultures influence decisions that affect the environment.

The Colby-Sawyer Environmental Studies Department provides students the opportunity to understand, integrate, and apply multiple disciplines and different ways of thinking with a high level of concern for the preservation and sustainability of the Earth and its resources.

Students who major in this program receive a Bachelor of Science in either Environmental Studies or Environmental Science. A minor in Environmental Studies is also available.
