Bernard D. Knezek

Bernie Knezek received a BS in Agronomy and Soils at Texas Technological University and an MS and PhD in Agricultural Chemistry and Soils from the University of Arizona.  He came to Michigan State University in 1966 as a Professor of Soil Chemistry in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences until his retirement in 2004.

During his tenure at Michigan State, Knezek wore many hats.  He was Associate Chair in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences from 1974-1979.  In 1981-1982 he was Acting Associate Director at the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station. From 1980-2004 he was Coordinator of the Farming Systems Center at the Kellogg Biological Station and 1982-2004, Associate Director for Agriculture and Natural Resources Programs at KBS.

During his distinguished career, he was a core Co-Investigator with the Long-Term Ecological Research at KBS, a co-principal investigator with issues on "Sustainable Agriculture: Management Systems for Integrating Soil, Plants and Water; "Status and Potential of Michigan Natural Resources" and "User Friendly Methodology for Managing Animal Manure and Fertilizer Nutrients Within Livestock and Crop Production Enterprises".

Dr. Kenezek and his wife, Mary, have five grown children and reside in Lansing.
