NEW LONDON, N.H. January 5, 2009 Colby-Sawyer men's soccer senior Patrick Benson (Essex, Vt.) has been selected to the Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Benson, one of the Chargers' co-captains, has earned an impressive 3.85 GPA as a double-major in Exercise Science and Biology, while assisting the men's soccer team to their 14 consecutive TCCC Tournament appearance. Earlier this year, Benson was named the 2008 TCCC Men's Soccer Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
After a brutal schedule to begin the 2008 season, the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team faced several regionally ranked teams, and opened to a 0-6 start, the Chargers bounced back in conference play to make The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the 14th consecutive season. The Chargers reached the TCCC Quarterfinals with a 5-5-3 conference record, but lost 3-0 to nationally ranked Western New England College, closing out their season.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. November 1, 2008 The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team was defeated by the 15th ranked and first seeded, Western New England College Golden Bears, 3-0 on Saturday in the first round of the TCCC playoffs.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. October 31, 2008 Seniors Elise Kapp (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) and Pat Benson (Essex, Vt.) have been named TCCC Senior Scholar Athletes of the Year for women's and men's soccer, respectively. Kapp also earned a nod to the All-TCCC Women's Soccer Second Team. Earning Honorable Mention nods were senior Doug Currie (Harvard, Mass.) and junior Eileen Endyke (Derry, N.H.).
QUINCY, Mass. - October 29, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 shutout over Eastern Nazarene in the regular season finale on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Chargers earned the final playoff spot in the upcoming TCCC tournament.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. October 27, 2008 Colby-Sawyer College freshman forward Brian Lombard (Ipswich, Mass.) played a key role for the Chargers this week, netting the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw with Roger Williams. Lombard also assisted on the game-winning goal against Curry, as the Chargers went on to a 1-0 victory.
BRISTOL, R.I. October 25, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie with the first place Hawks of Roger Williams, on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Brian Lombard (Ipswich, Mass.) tallied the lone Chargers goal, his third of the season.
DUDLEY, Mass. October 25, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer was defeated, 2-0 by Nichols on Saturday afternoon. Colby-Sawyer drops to 4-10-2 overall and 4-5-2 in TCCC action. Nichols improves to 8-8-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the conference.
NEW LONDON, N.H. October 22, 2008 The Chargers handed the first place Colonels, a 1-0 loss on a breakaway goal by Doug Currie (Harvard, Mass.)in the first overtime on a cold and windy Wednesday afternoon. Colby-Sawyer celebrated their Senior Day by extending their unbeaten streak to four games, continuing their strong push for the playoffs. With the victory the Chargers even their conference record at 4-4-2 with 14 points, while the Colonels drop to 8-2-1 in TCCC action.
BOSTON, Mass. October 18, 2008 - Freshman forward Brian Lombard's (Ipswich, Mass.) goal with 15:54 remaining in regulation knotted the game for Colby-Sawyer as the Chargers men's soccer team and Wentworth battled to a 2-all draw in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played at Sweeney Field.
NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 14, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team tied Gordon, 1-1 in double overtime on Tuesday evening at Kelsey Field. Senior Colin Bellavance (Dudley, Mass.) tied the game in the 27th minute, scoring on a penalty kick.

October 11, 2008 Freshman Brian Lombard (Ipswich, Mass.) notched his first collegiate goal in the 29th minute on Saturday, October 11, leading the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Salve Regina. With the win, the Chargers jump to 3-9 overall and 3-4 in TCCC action. Salve Regina drops to 7-6 overall and 5-3 in TCCC play.
NEW LONDON, N.H. October 8, 2008 The Chargers and No. 16 Western New England were deadlocked at a 0-0 tie until the Golden Bears scored with two seconds left in the first half. Western New England junior, Ryan Praleikas (Naugatuck, Conn.), scored on a flip throw-in from the right sideline that deflected off Chargers' goalkeeper Will Berry (Berlin, Vt.) and into the top right corner of the net.
NEW LONDON, N.H. October 4, 2008 Senior Doug Currie (Harvard, Mass.) recorded one of his best matches in his career by tallying three goals in the first half to lead the Chargers over the Pride of Regis, 7-0. With the win the Chargers improve their conference record to 2-3, while the Pride fall to 0-6 in TCCC play. The combination of Will Berry (Berlin, Vt.), Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.), T.J. Doherty (East Granby, Conn.), and Eric Caples (Billerica, Mass.) earned the shutout.
HENNIKER, NH September 30, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers suffered a 4-0 loss to NEC Tuesday afternoon, in Henniker. The team is back in action on Saturday, hosting Regis College at 12:30 p.m.
NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 26, 2008 - Saturday's men's soccer match against Roger Williams has been postponed due to inclement weather. The match has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m.
BIDDEFORD, Maine - September 23, 2008 - The Chargers made a late run at the Nor'easters but came up short dropping the match, 2-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt Tuesday evening under the lights. Junior Pete Duff (Greensboro, N.C.) found the back of the net for the Chargers.
NEW LONDON, N.H. September 20, 2008 Freshman Derek Veilleux (Winslow, Maine) scored the game winning goal in overtime to give the Chargers their first win of the season over conference rival Endicott. The 2-1 victory was contributed in large part to Colby-Sawyer's defense and junior goalkeeper Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) who made a magnificent diving save in the 66th minute to keep the game deadlocked at one apiece.
NEW LONDON, N.H. September 17, 2008 Senior Allen Bourdon (Lyme, N.H.) netted his first goal of the match off a penalty kick in the 3rd minute. He added his second goal of the game minutes later to help the #1 ranked team in the nation remain undefeated, improving to 3-0 on the season. Junior Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) made several spectacular saves keeping the game within reach for the Chargers, finishing with nine on the afternoon.
WALTHAM, Mass. September 15, 2008 - The Brandeis University men's soccer team defeated visiting Colby-Sawyer College, 4-0, on Gordon Field. With the victory, the Brandeis men improve to a 4-1 record, while Colby-Saywer falls to 0-5 on the season.
PAXTON, Mass. - September 13, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team lost a tough 1-0, decision in overtime to Anna Maria on Saturday at Klingele Field. Junior George Markopoulos (Worcester, Mass.) scored in the first overtime for the AMCATS to earn the victory.
WORCESTER, Mass. - September 10, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Clark on Wednesday night. Clark is the 10th ranked team in New England and remains unbeaten. The Chargers drop to 0-3 on the young season after playing all ranked opponents.
BABSON PARK, Mass. - August 31, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on Sunday, August 31, 2008 to Babson. The win gave Babson its second straight Classic Championship. With the loss, Colby-Sawyer falls to 0-2-0 on the season.
BABSON PARK, Mass. - August 30 - Senior Ben Slagle (Scarborough, Maine) scored the game-winning goal with 8:33 left in regulation to lift the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a thrilling 2-1 win over Colby-Sawyer College in the first round of the 2008 Babson Soccer Classic on Saturday afternoon.
NEW LONDON, N.H. August 27, 2008 The Colby-Sawyer Men's Soccer team has been selected to finish 5th in The Commonwealth Coast Conference this season. The team opens the 2008 season this weekend at the Babson tournament.
