FIS Description
The Forage Information System (FIS) is a global forage information resource hosted at Oregon State University. It was initially posted to the web in November of 1994. Development is coordinated by editor-in-chief David B. Hannaway and web-master Sara Griffith Monk. Graphical design has been provided by Patti Sohn. The FIS contains approximately 5,000 pages and 5 GB of information and receives an average of 175 "hits" per day from around the world (>63,000 per year; >500,000 over life of project). The FIS has provided a model for scores of locally-based forage information sites now located at universities, organizations, and forage-related industries.

Information on the FIS is offered as a public service as part of the land grant university mission involving Extension, teaching, and research projects. Although copyrighted to Oregon State University, users are welcome to use materials freely for non-commericial purposes, providing acknowledgement of the FIS source.
