Nord. J. Bot. 3: 287. 1981. Name used in Aiken and Darbyshire (1990), now placed into synonymy with F. frederikseniae. F. vivipara var. hirsuta Schol. in Devold & Schol., 1933. Type: Greenland. Fredriksdal, Juli 1828, Vahl s.n. Lectotype: C. (Frederksen 1981).

Treated as F. frederikseniae following Alexeev (1985).
