DNR's Winter Monitoring of the Bay

Although most of our stations are sampled from April through October, monitoring will continue at a few sites this winter.   This monthly water quality sampling at Fixed Stations will continue to be taken by
dedicated field personnel throughout the winter months. Archived continuous monitoring data from previous years are also available at the Eyes on the Bay web site.

Water Quality Mapping cruises have stopped for the winter but will resume in March and April of 2009.  Archived monthly Water Quality Cruise Maps are available.   a satellite image of the Chesapeake Bay All of our 2008 Water Quality Monitoring Data as well as this years monitoring stories and highlights are available at our web site Eyes on the Bay.

Satellite imagery and satellite derived water quality data (temperature, chlorophyll, turbidity) of the Chesapeake Bay are updated daily on the Eyes in the Sky page. Regular visitors will be able to see the coverage of ice and snow and the effects of storms on the Chesapeake Bay.

Periodically check back to the Eyes on the Bay web site to see updated water quality data and continuing coverage of Chesapeake Bay water quality issues.
