why colby-sawyer college?

Our 1,000 students, with their distinct personalities, interests and goals, could easily give you 1,000 different reasons for why they chose Colby-Sawyer College. But when we've asked students, they mention three recurring themes about what sets Colby-Sawyer apart: the people, the programs and the place.

The People

You may not know them yet, but our students, faculty, staff and alumni make Colby-Sawyer a college that will welcome you and challenge you to transform and improve yourself. With an average class size of only 17 students, our faculty take an interest in you as an individual and help you realize your aspirations. Your goals become their goals.

The Programs

Innovative. Challenging. Stimulating. These are some of the ways students describe Colby-Sawyer's Liberal Education Program, the Pathway Seminars. They are designed to teach you to think critically and analyze complex issues while developing a broad base of knowledge. Pathways prepare students to enter one (or possibly two) of 12 majors and 17 minors.

Yet a Colby-Sawyer education is not limited to our classrooms or campus. Our residence hall and campus activities programs add to your college experience. Ninety-seven percent of our students complete at least one internship in their field of study. The combination of theoretical knowledge gained in and outside of the classroom, research conducted in labs and in the field, and practical skills developed in internships enables our graduates to excel in their careers.

The Place

Our campus is located in the beautiful Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire, with 360-degree views of nearby mountains, forests and lakes. More than 90 percent of students who apply do so after visiting our campus.

Colby-Sawyer radiates a deep sense of tradition yet provides amazing campus facilities with state-of-the-art technologies. Our library is a seamless blend of the past and present. It's a 200-year-old converted barn, but like the rest of campus, it's equipped with wireless Internet access. And when you're in the mood for a weekend in the city, Boston is a 90-minute drive away.

More than location or technology, Colby-Sawyer is a friendly place that you can call home. You are welcomed the first day you step onto campus and every time you return. The connection between Colby-Sawyer and its students is that strong.

These are some of reasons students chose Colby-Sawyer College, but you really should find out for yourself. We encourage you to come and discover your own connections. To arrange for a visit, call the Office of Admissions at (800) 272-1015. We can't wait to meet you!
