SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 15, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer junior Ryan Laperle, a native of Brooklyn, Conn., finished with a time of 11.38 in the men's 100m, placing him 23rd overall in the event.
NEW LONDON, Conn. - May 3, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer sophomore Caitlin Pond (Westborough, Mass.) earned her first All-New England honor, finishing seventh in women's heptathlon at the New England Championships held May 2-3 at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
WENHAM, Mass. - April 26, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's track & field team won 15 different events on their way to capturing their second consecutive The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Invitational Championship Saturday afternoon. The women's team captured four first-place finishes en route to taking home third.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - April 19, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer sophomore Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) became the second Colby-Sawyer track & field athlete to qualify for ECAC championships Saturday afternoon, as he recorded a distance of 52.41m in the men's javelin throw at the MIT Coed Innovational.
WORCESTER, Mass. April 18, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's track and field team to competed in the Holy Cross College Decathlon/Heptathlon, held April 16-17 at Holy Cross. Competing for Colby-Sawyer were freshmen Tyler Murdock (Lyme, N.H.) and Matt Cole (Sturbridge, Mass.) and junior Sean Ahern (Delmar, N.Y.) for the men and senior Alexa Fitzgerald (Talkeetna, Alaska) for the Colby-Sawyer women.
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. The Colby-Sawyer track and field team added four more athletes to the list of New England Championship qualifiers and had their first ECAC Championship qualifier on Saturday afternoon as Amber Cronin (Buxton, Maine), Caitlin Pond (Westborough, Mass.), Joshua Commey (Accra, Ghana) and Brian Saad (Dudley, Mass.) qualified for New Englands and Ryan Laperle (Brooklyn, Conn.) posted a qualifying time in the men's 100m dash.
A native of Dudley, Mass., senior Brian Saad is a valuable member of several teams. When not participating in the shot put or discus throws for the track and field team, Brian is attending a Student Government meeting or helping out in the admissions office.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - April 5, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer junior Ryan Laperle (Brooklyn, Conn.) and sophomore Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) both qualified for the New England Track and Field Championships on Saturday, posting qualifying marks in the 100m and javelin throw respectively. The pair joins the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams as qualifiers for New Englands.
WESTFIELD, Mass. March 29, 2008 The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's track & field teams opened the 2008 season at Westfield State's Jerry Gravel Classic, with the women's team finishing in sixth of seven teams and the men's team finishing fifth of six teams on the day.
Head Coach Peter Steese knows success. He has helped his Chargers earn five individual NCAA All-American Awards and has sent at least one individual to the NCAA DIII Championships seven of the last eight seasons. Coach Steese has become accustomed to that success and the bar has been set high for the 2008 squad.
