Chesapeake Bay Program - Bay Field Guide

Bay Field Guide

The Bay Field Guide profiles some of the many plants and animals found in the Bay watershed. Here you can learn about the features, habitat, diet and more of dozens of the region's species—from fish that swim in the Bay to mammals that roam the watershed; from birds that fly in the sky to reptiles that slither across the ground; and from the tiniest invertebrates to the tallest trees. Each month, the Bay Field Guide grows as a new "Critter of the Month" is added.

You can explore the Bay Field Guide by browsing "By Type" (fish, bird, etc.) or "By Habitat" (forests, aquatic reefs, etc.). Or you can check out some of the newest and most popular species, listed below.
