Key Characteristics

Densely clumped Ovales sedge of marshes and swamp borders; leaves 2-4 mm; spikelets with distinctive staminate bases; perigynia strongly flattened with prominent wings, relatively wide (>2 mm); scales with sharp awn-like tips.
