Colorado State Parks Board Members

Lenna Watson, Member 
Lenna WatsonColorado State Parks have always been a special place for Lenna Watson. While being involved with the Riverfront Foundation and Commission, she was present for the opening of the Fruita Section of the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park.  She frequently has picnics at the Island Acres Section and Connected Lake Section which are all part of the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park and located near Grand Junction where Lenna was born and raised. Preservation and maintenance for Colorado State Parks are top priorities during her appointment with the State Parks Board.

Bill Kane, Member
Bill Kane, Colorado State Parks Board MemberBill Kane has over 30 years of experience in planning and design for mountain resort communities. Much of his career has been focused in Aspen, Colorado, where he has served as planning director, vice president of Aspen Skiing Company and principal of Design Workshop. Bill holds a Master's Degree in Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.  His education, work history and life experiences make him an expert in private and public planning for all of the physical and programmatic elements which define mountain resort design.

Gary Butterworth, Member
Garry Butterworth, Colorado State Parks Board Member Gary Butterworth is a Vice President at El Pomar Foundation.  Specific duties include directing El Pomar’s Fellowship Program, a post-undergraduate leadership development program. In addition, he serves as a Grants Officer and Senior Staff representative to the San Luis Valley Regional Council.  Mr. Butterworth joined the staff of El Pomar Foundation in 1998 and is a board member of Colorado Springs Youth Sports, Inc., the Colorado Springs World Arena, the Boys and Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region, and the Air Force Academy Foundation.

James Pribyl, Member
Jim Pribyl is vice president of government affairs at Level 3 Communications, LLC. Denver-based Level 3 Communications is one of the largest Internet backbones in the world, connecting 180 markets in 18 counties. Jim has extensive experience on boards and worked in the political world for many years. 

Laurie Mathews, Member
Laurie Mathews was director of Colorado State Parks from 1991 to 2001.  Before that she served as assistant director at the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Development. Among some of her accomplishments as director of Colorado State Parks, Laurie added five new parks, built19 new visitor centers and established statewide environmental education programs. In 2001, she founded the Himalayan Dental Relief Project and serves as project director bringing first time dental care to children in Nepal, India, Guatemala and Vietnam.
