Grass Family (Poaceae)
Habitat/Range: Common throughout the tallgrass region on dry hillsides and in well-drained prairies.

A low grass growing in small clumps or as solitary stems growing up to 3 feet tall. The leaves are up to 12 inches long and less than a ___ wide, with long, pointed tips. Flower clusters are mostly along one side of the upper stem.
