Kord Schwarz Chosen to Lead Tennis Program

NEW LONDON, N.H. - November 14, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer Athletic Director Debi Field-McGrath announced today the hiring of Kord Schwarz as the new Head Coach of the Colby-Sawyer Men's and Women's tennis program.

Colby-Sawyer Women's Tennis was Great in '08

NEW LONDON, N.H. - It was a recording breaking season for the Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team as they finished their regular season with a perfect 15-0 overall record and a 10-0 TCCC record, earning a No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Despite a hard-felt loss to Endicott in the TCCC Championship match, the Chargers completed the single greatest season in school history, finishing with a record of 17-1.

Endicott Defeats Chargers, 5-2 in TCCC Final

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 25, 2008 – The Chargers magical season came to an end with a loss to the Gulls of Endicott, 5-2 in the TCCC Championship. Colby-Sawyer finished the season with a school best, 17-1 overall record.

Chargers Advance to TCCC Final with 6-3 Win over Roger Williams; Coach Sean McCaffrey Wins 100th Match

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 23, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers defeated Roger Williams, 6-3 on Thursday afternoon to advance to the TCCC Final on Saturday, October 25. The Chargers will host Endicott at noon to decide the conference championship. Head Coach, Sean McCaffrey earned his 100th win at Colby-Sawyer.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2008 - The Chargers advanced to the TCCC Semifinals with their Quarterfinals victory over Curry, 9-0. Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) and Hannah White (Stockbridge, Mass.) both won their singles matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

Sean McCaffrey Named TCCC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – October 14, 2008 – Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis head coach, Sean McCaffrey, has been named the 2008 TCCC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, voted on by the conferences head coaches. Women's Tennis Rolls to 9-0 Victory over Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – October 8, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Southern Maine on Wednesday evening. Leading the way for the Chargers was junior Brittany Mailman (Freedom, N.H.) who picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles with junior teammate Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine). Francis defeated Erica Robertson at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

Chargers Push Record to 13-0; Outlast Endicott 5-4

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 7, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers outlasted previously undefeated Endicott on Tuesday, October 7, winning the match, 5-4. The win pushes the Chargers record to 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the conference, locking up the top seed for the conference tournament. Endicott drops their first match of the season and dips to 12-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 2, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Eastern Nazarene, 5-0 on Thursday, October 2. Sophomore Carolyn Drake (Great River, N.Y.) picked up the lone singles victory for the Chargers, defeating Nehemie Suzin, 6-0, 6-0.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 30, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Plymouth State on Tuesday, September 30, at Kelsey Tennis Courts. Sophomore Carolyn Drake (Great River, N.Y.) had an impressive singles victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Nikki Kolb to lead the Chargers to the win.

Mary Francis and Nicole Duarte Earn TCCC Accolades

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – September 29, 2008 – Junior Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) has been named TCCC Women's Tennis Player of the Week and freshman Nicole Duarte (Windham, N.H.) has been named TCCC Volleyball Rookie of the Week. The women's tennis and volleyball teams combined for an impressive 5-1 record last week.

BRISTOL, R.I. - September 27, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers kept their perfect season in tact on Saturday afternoon, with an impressive 7-2 victory over Roger Williams. The top match of the day occurred when junior Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) outlasted Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 at No.1 singles.

MILTON, Mass. - September 23, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers kept rolling on Tuesday afternoon, with a 9-0 sweep of Curry. Highlighting the performances of the Chargers was freshman Lauren Turenne(Reading, Mass.) who did not drop a game at No. 3 singles winning 6-0, 6-0.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Colby-Sawyer College swept the doubles and nearly swept singles play as the Chargers dealt an 8-1 defeat to Salve Regina University in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's tennis match in Newport.

Women's Tennis Defeats Nichols, 5-4

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team edged Nichols, 5-4, Thursday to hand the Bison their first defeat of the season. The Chargers took two close matches at second and third doubles and Brittany Mailman (Freedom, N.H.) won at No. 4 singles to seal The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory.

Jen LaChance and Liz Allen Named TCCC Players of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – September 3, 2008 – Freshman Liz Allen (Holden, Mass.) and junior Jen LaChance (Killingworth, Conn.) were named Commonwealth Coast Conference Players of the Week. LaChance was named as the women's tennis Player of the Week. Allen was also given the nod as TCCC Rookie of the Week for women's soccer. Freshman Nicole Duarte (Windham, N.H.) was named TCCC Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
