Approval

The process  for a visitor to secure approval to conduct research on KBS property or use KBS facilities begins by contacting the office of the KBS Director.  The Director approves all research activities, assigns laboratory and office space, and establishes fees.  Researchers preparing proposals for research to be conducted at KBS should seek approval prior to submission to the funding agency.

Site Use Request Form

Once a researcher is fairly certain they wish to initiate a research project or sabbatical visit at KBS, the next step is to submit a completed KBS Site Use Request Form. Please also see Space and Equipment Use Fees

Annual Research Summary

As one of the premier field stations for ecological research, KBS attracts numerous researchers from both Michigan State University and other institutions, national and international.  As a means of summarizing the diversity of research conducted at the Station, we request that all visitors submit a research summary annually.  This summary need only be an abstract of about 400 words similar in nature to a project summary.  Summaries can be posted online.  Current and past Research Summaries are available on the KBS web pages.

KBS Contribution Number on Publications

Publication of work performed at KBS or in other ways supported by KBS should acknowledge the Station with a KBS Contribution Number, which can be requested from the Walter F. Morofsky Memorial Library.
