Visiting Research Faculty and Staff Rates 2009
(Visiting faculty, research assistants, and graduate students conducting research at KBS)

KBS offers an unforgettable experience for learning!  We are located on the shores of Gull Lake and the surrounding area offers many recreational opportunities.  Students in residence may enjoy canoeing, swimming, hiking, soccer, volleyball, bonfires, and BBQs. Delicious meals prepared by our chef and staff feature locally grown produce and a variety of vegetarian options.  Wireless internet service is available in the housing units and throughout KBS.  All rates include linens and towels along with weekly housekeeping services.   Join us at KBS, where learning is natural!

Visiting researcher housing

Weekly Lodging rates are per week per person.

Weekly rates will apply when staying 4 nights or more.

Daily rate $50.00 will apply if staying 1, 2 or 3 nights (meals extra)

Vanderploeg and Sherriff Hall (weekly rates)

One bedroom apartments with two twin beds in main room.

Two bedroom apartments with two twin beds in back bedroom and a sleeper couch in front living room area.

All apartments are equipped with a kitchenette, stove, refrigerator or microwave, private bathroom, dresser, desk with chair, TV's with satellite dish network (new in 2008) and wireless internet connections.

Orchard Dorms (weekly rates)

The Orchard dorms are set up as two room suites, with a shared bathroom.  rooms have two twin beds, desk with chair, dresser, a dorm-sized refrigerator, telephone, fans, TV's with satellite dish network (new in 2008) and wired and wireless internet connections. Activity Room with lounge area, TV/DVD/VCR with cable, pool table, pop machine, guest computer, full size refrigerator and sink area.

Room and Board

The room and board plan consists of 17 meals:

  • Breakfast - Monday to Saturday (6 breakfasts)
  • Lunch - Monday to Sunday (7 lunches)
  • Dinner - Monday to Thursday (4 dinners)

Additional Researcher Rates

Overnight guests must register at the Conference Center Front Desk located in McCrary Hall.  Individual meals may be purchased at McCrary Hall.

Breakfast       $6.50

Lunch            $7.50

Dinner            $9.50

These are discount rates, if lodging at KBS.  For more information contact the conference center.

Coin operated washing machines and dryers are available on site.

A $50.00 cleaning deposit will be required for all stays of over two weeks.

Sorry, no pets allowed.

Smoking is prohibited inside all KBS buildings and lodging rooms.

To Reserve Housing

All housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  There are a limited number of one bedroom efficiency apartments available so submit your request early!  To ensure a room reservation for summer 2009, apply by April 6, 2009.

To reserve housing complete the Housing Reservation Form (PDF).  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this file.  Unless you have the full version of Acrobat you will not be able to save the completed form.  However, you will be able to print it.  Include the completed form with a $50.00 deposit and mail to the Conference Center:
