Commissioner Eubanks Named Wilderness Hero
Larimer County Commissioner Randy Eubanks has been named Wilderness Hero for the month of October, 2008, by the non-profit national wilderness advocacy group Campaign for America's Wilderness. 10/7/2008

Commissioner Kathay Rennels Honored with Colorado "Friend of Extension" Award
This award, presented by Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Extension Professionals' Organization, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to and supported Extension programs over time. 10/6/2008

County Employment Specialist Receives Recognition
Katrina Daniel, Employment Specialist at the Larimer County Workforce Center won a statewide award at the Employment First conference, for placing nearly 200 people in jobs in program year 2008. Katrina had the highest number of customers obtaining employment in the entire state. This is the third year in a row that she has received this award. 9/25/2008

Website Receives Two First Place Awards
The recently re-designed Larimer County website, The Virtual Courthouse, received two first-place awards in the large population group (more than 100,000 citizens) at the 2008 annual conference of the National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW). 9/19/2008

Garbage Garage Wins EPA Award
The Garbage Garage Education Center was presented with an Environmental Achievement Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. 7/9/2008

Dr. Jane Higgins Awarded 2008 Joseph Jabaily Public Health Hero Award
The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment has announced that the recipient of the third annual Joseph Jabaily Public Health Hero Award is Jane Higgins, MD, a physician at CSU's Hartshorn Health Service. 6/16/2008

National Construction Quality Award
The Larimer County Engineering Department in partnership with local contractor LaFarge Northern Paving has received a national award for excellence in roadway paving work related to the North Taft Hill Reconstruction Project. 4/23/2008

Maternal Health Services Supervisor Honored with Community Leadership Award
Jody Kind, RN, MSN, was honored in April for her services to training UNC nurses in Community Health. 4/23/2008

Building Department Gives Awards for Professionalism
The Board of Larimer County Commissioners recognized three outstanding local contractors, architects and engineers who provide a quality product to citizens in the unincorporated area of Larimer County. This is the sixth annual presentation of the Larimer County Building Department's 'Recognition Award Program for Professionalism'. 1/28/2008

The Garbage Garage Wins Another Award
The Garbage Garage Education Center is one of 10 programs from across the state that the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) will honor at its February awards banquet for "leadership in developing effective, cooperative, cross-sector environmental education programs." 1/11/2008

Community at Work Receives a 2007 Golden Microphone Award
Community at Work received a 2007 Golden Microphone Award from KRFCfm for Outstanding Programming. Community at Work is a weekly radio program on KRFCfm, 88.9, that provides insight into issues that affect our communities by providing a closer look at the public agencies that serve citizens. 12/20/2007

At the Rocky Mountain Workforce Development Association's 2006 conference, the Larimer County Workforce Center's Career Transition Team won an award for "Promoting Excellence in Workforce Development." 4/27/2006

County Finance Wins Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
For the 23rd consecutive year, Larimer County's Finance Division received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. 2/9/2006

Commissioners Honor Extension Agent
The Board of Larimer County Commissioners recognized Larimer County 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent Kathy Wolfe for the national 'Power Of Youth Award' she recently received. 12/19/2005

Environmental Achievement Award
Larimer County Environmental Health Specialist Tom Gonzales has been selected for the 2005 Colorado Environmental Health Association (CEHA) Environmental Achievement Award. 10/11/2005

Larimer County Triumphs at State Posse Meet
The Larimer County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol has brought the Colorado Sheriff's Posse Association State Meet trophy to Larimer County. The trophy itself, affectionately called "The Old Man Trophy", is a one-of-a-kind, hand carved wooden figure of an old western sheriff. 9/7/2005

County Wins National Award for Public Information
The Board of Larimer County Commissioners honored Community Information Manager Deni La Rue for a Meritorious Award given by the National Association of County Information Officers, NACIO, in their Awards of Excellence 2005 competition. The NACIO award was given for 'Community at Work', a one-half hour public affairs radio show aired on local community radio station KRFC. 9/6/2005

Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle Receives National Public Official of the Year Award
The National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) awarded Scott Doyle the 2005 Public Official of the Year Award in recognition of his creation of the Citizen Information Center (CIC), proactive business and budget planning within the Clerk's office, and successful development and implementation of Vote Centers in Larimer County. 7/26/2005

Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle Receives NACRC Election Administration Best Practices Award
The National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) awarded Scott Doyle the 2005 Election Administration Best Practice Award in recognition of the successful creation and implementation of Vote Centers Larimer County. 7/26/2005

Garbage Garage Education Center Wins Award
The Garbage Garage, Larimer County's waste and recycling education center, was honored as an "Outstanding Colorado Recycling/Diversion Program" by the Colorado Association for Recycling (CAFR). 6/28/2005

Commissioners Honor Award Winners
The Larimer County Board of Commissioners honored Jim Drendel, Division Manager for Larimer County Human Services - Child, Youth, and Family, and Paul Cooper, Chief Probation Officer, for awards they received. 5/24/2005

Larimer Places in Top-10 Digital Counties
A national survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo) named the top-10 most technologically-advanced, cutting-edge county governments in the United States. Larimer County placed ninth in its population category. 9/16/2004

Health Official Honored with Prestigious Health Awards
Larimer County Department of Health and Environment's Community Health Services Director Avie Strand has received several prestigious health awards in the recent past. Strand was honored with the 2002 National Lillian Wald Award for Public Health Nursing Excellence. Strand also won Colorado's Lillian Wald Award in 2001 and a Colorado Nightingale nursing award in 1996. 11/24/2003

Workforce Center's Youth Programs Receive Awards
Two specialized programs for youth, an annual Youth Employment Conference and Operation Occupation, administered by the Larimer County Workforce Center have been cited by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment as "Exemplary and Innovative programs." 11/24/2003

Garbage Garage Wins National Award
The Larimer County Natural Resources Department has won the 'Best New Program Award' from the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (NAHMMA) for it's Garbage Garage Education Center. 10/28/2003

Veterans Affairs Technician Given Distinguished Service Award
Fort Collins Veterans Service Organizations, as a group, honor Debra Pierson with 'Distinguished Service Award' plaque for her 'Dedication and Loyalty to Veterans'. 6/5/2003

Larimer County Parents Are State Foster Parents of the Year
Larimer County foster parents Louise and Jim East were named outstanding foster parents of the year by the Colorado State Foster Parent Association and the Colorado Coalition of Adoptive Families. The couple was presented the award at the 2002 Annual Education Conference on October 10 in Glenwood Springs. The Easts have served as foster parents for Larimer County for the last 17 years and have cared for numerous troubled and challenging children. The couple has also adopted two children. 10/17/2002

Human Services Wins Statewide Award
The Children, Youth and Family Services Division of Larimer County's Department of Human Services has won the statewide John Inmann Program Award from the Colorado Forum on Community & Restorative Justice. The Children, Youth and Family Services Division was nominated for this award due to their efforts in integrating restorative and community justice in child welfare cases. 10/15/2002

Budget Video Wins Excellent Award
The National Association of County Information Officers, NACIO, has awarded their second highest acknowledgment the , "2002 Excellent Award" for the Larimer County Budget Office video, "In Working Order". 10/8/2002

Planning Has Winning Landscape Information
This past spring the Larimer County Planning Department received an "Honor Award" in the Planning and Urban Design category, a Professional Design Award from the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (CCASLA), for their Plant List and Landscape Guide. 8/20/2002

Workforce Center Receives Governor's Recognition
The Larimer County Workforce Center was recognized by Governor Bill Owens at a ceremony in Denver for their work on behalf of the Governor's Summer Job Hunt and the 2002 Youth Job Fairs. 5/31/2002

Community Corrections Gives Awards
The Community Corrections Department gives out the 24th Annual Conrad L. Ball Award and 2002 Governor's Community Corrections Award. 5/19/2002

County Wins National Web Site Award
Larimer County's web site, the Virtual Courthouse, is the recipient of a national award for e-governance excellence. The National Academy of Public Administration and the National Association of Counties (NACo). 5/7/2002

Human Services Directors Receive Award
Kathy Snell, Director of Health & Human Services, Joni Friedman, Director of the Workforce Center, and Ginny Riley, Director of Human Services, received Fair Welfare Reform Coalition Outstanding Contribution awards. 5/7/2002

For the second year in a row, Larimer County's web site, the "Virtual Courthouse", takes the top honor in the Northern Colorado Business Report's CyberStars Awards. 12/28/2001
