11.18.2008 - The Senate Rules and Administration Committee and the Committee on House Administration oversee operation of the largest expansion of the U.S. Capitol in its 215 year history. The mission of the Capitol Visitor Center is to provide a welcoming and educational environment for visitors to learn about the unique characteristics of the House and the Senate and the legislative process as well as the history and development of the architecture and art of the U.S. Capitol. The Capitol Visitor Center also provides added security, resulting in a safe and secure guest experience. The opening of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) on December 2, 2008 marks an exciting and rejuvenating time for Capitol Hill and the beginning of a new experience and opportunity for those visiting the Capitol.
