Weed Movie Download

The following is about a movie called Dangerous Travelers - Controlling Invasive Plants Along America's Roadways.  The movie is about road maintenance personnel and equipment operators.  The National Forest System invasive species management program and the Engineering program, in partnership with the Department of Transportation Federal Highways Administration, the US Fish and Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuge System, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and others have produced and released the first video of a series on invasive species prevention best management practices.  This video is available on DVD and the internet.  There are 5000 copies being produced.  These copies will be available for public and private use.  The movie is VERY high quality and is available free of charge.

First of all, some points about this movie should be mentioned:
1. This is the first movie of a 5-part series on invasive species prevention.  The focus of this video is on invasive plants and targets equipment operators and other road engineering professionals.
2. Partners with the USDA Forest Service include the Federal Highways Administration, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
3. This movie focuses on how much damage invasive species are doing.  It also shows how invasive species affect everyone.
Background:
In spring of 2003, reps from the San Dimas Technology and Development Center (SDTDC), the Washington office roads coordinator, and the National Forest System invasive species program coordinator met to discuss the possibility of developing an educational video series on invasive species prevention BMP's for a variety of resource professionals.  The model for such a video series would be the award winning video series titled "Forest Roads and the Environment."  The invasive species prevention BMP video series project was initiated by SDTDC, and through the National Forest System Invasive Species Program a general design for the overall project was created. Potential partners were identified to participate on the development team for the first video in the proposed series.  The partners involved, along with the Forest Service, were the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the US Department of Transportation Federal Highways Administration, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.  In conclusion this is a 26 minute DVD that can be shown in training programs, meetings, and anything else related to preventing invasive species.
