confidently succeeding together

Colby-Sawyer College has completed the largest capital campaign in its history, exceeding its $40 million goal by raising $42.6 million for endowment, capital projects and academic support. The college's Board of Trustees officially closed the five-year Confidently Colby-Sawyer: Succeeding Together campaign at its February 2005 meeting. The campaign has enabled the college to establish 18 endowed funds and two endowed professorships, build and renovate academic buildings and invest $23 million in current academic programs, faculty and facilities.

Colby-Sawyer College is extremely fortunate that our trustees, alumni, parents and friends, have chosen to invest in its future. Their generosity is already making a tremendous difference at Colby-Sawyer College. They met the challenge posed by Robert and Natalie '48 (Davis) Rooke and doubled the impact of many campaign gifts given between Jan. 1, 2004, and Dec. 31, 2004. Contributions to student scholarships have made a Colby-Sawyer education possible for many of our current students and recent graduates. Other donors have enhanced our students' living and learning environment on campus.

In October 2004, the college honored the Succeeding Together Cochair Peter Danforth with the renaming of the residential New Hall to Danforth Hall. Nearly a month before that event, the college held a dedication ceremony for the Curtis L. Ivey Science Center, which opened for classes in the fall of 2004. On May 15, 2004, the college honored George M. "Bud" Lethbridge for his exemplary service and philanthropy to the college by naming the Lethbridge Lodge for him. In September 2003, the college community gathered in Pierce Park for a ceremony to honor another special gift that had transformed the heart of campus. In September 2002, the Colby-Sawyer community dedicated the beautifully renovated Mercer Hall, the new home of the Exercise and Sport Science Program.

From the beginning, our college community, made up of friends, alumni, parents and community members, has allowed us to imagine a higher level of academic excellence at Colby-Sawyer. Through this campaign, we have succeeded together in meeting our greatest expectations for advancing the college. Thank you all for caring about the college, for believing in our mission and helping to ensure a bright future for our current and future students.
