Pumpkin Buyers and Sellers List

The OSU Vegetable Team put together a list of pumpkin seller's/supplier's in 2007, with the goal of putting BUYER'S in touch with SELLER'S.  Most growers surveyed said they liked the exposure and wanted to do it again this year.

We are getting a later start this year so we thought we would keep all of last year's growers on the list and assume the contact information, size, and quantities, etc., would be similar to last year's information.  If not, please update your information at:

Don't remember what you put down last year?  Download and review your entry at this website, either Excel or PDF format at the following link:

If you have any questions, please contact myself or Brad Bergefurd (bergefurd.1@osu.edu).

Best wishes for a great fall sales season!

Asparagus Information

Thinking about asparagus or updating your current planting, then you will want to read this excellent report by Carl Cantaluppi. More and more people are looking to buy it from local growers. It is a high-value horticultural crop that is easy to grow and can bring in extra income for growers.

Proper variety selection is important for success so a ¼ acre replicated asparagus cultivar trial was planted by Carl at the Garnett Carr farm in Roxboro, NC with 13 cultivars. In the report there is information on the origin and history of some of the cultivars in the trial. A copy of the report is available for downloading from the VegNet website at: http://vegnet.osu.edu/library/res07/aspcarr2007-2008.doc   [MS Word format]. If you do not have internet access, you can get a hard copy of the report directly from Carl. See contact information below. It is suggested that you contact Carl about adaptation of certain varieties to your area and you should also be aware that certain varieties are only available as seed and not crowns. Carl can help you with this also.
