The Lincoln Journal Star is the premier news and information source in Southeast Nebraska. Along with the area’s leading daily newspaper, we publish several niche publications, have a direct mail operation, several web sites and a commercial printing operation.
The Journal Star is a division of Lee Enterprises with approximately 450 employees in many fields such as finance, advertising, circulation, editorial, engineering/maintenance, information systems, marketing, and production.
The Journal Star also owns and operates the Beatrice Daily Sun, Fremont Tribune, Columbus Telegram, Schuyler Sun, David City Banner Press and Plattsmouth Journal.

Our Continued Growth
The Lincoln Journal Star is one of only a handful of daily newspapers in the country that experienced circulation growth this past year.
Currently we have a circulation of 76,374 daily and 83,674 Sunday. We reach 75.2% of readers in Lancaster County on a weekly basis. Our main website, journalstar.com, is a leading website in the area with an average of over 600,000 visits per month. |

History
Lincoln was a two-newspaper town for much of its history. The Lincoln Star, owned primarily by Lee Enterprises, was the morning paper and the Lincoln Journal, owned primarily by the Seacrest family, published in the evening. That changed in 1995 when Lee bought out the Seacrests, closed the evening newspaper and introduced an expanded Lincoln Journal Star.
With the benefit of a new press and new production facility, the newspaper was redesigned in July 2000 and expanded again. New or revamped sections include a weekly entertainment tabloid, Husker Extra, a science and technology section, a Sunday section of community news, a health section, a fitness page, an education section, a families section, a home and garden section, and a “Back Page” for women readers.
The new press also allows the Journal Star to operate a significant commercial printing business and produce numerous niche products such as Neighborhood Extra, Wheels For You and Work For You. |
