Guía De Ayuda Para El Público en Español

Welcome to the Department of Environmental Management (DEM). We are committed to preserving the quality of Rhode Island's environment, maintaining the health and safety of its residents, and protecting the natural systems upon which life depends. Together with many partners, we offer assistance to individuals, business and municipalities, conduct research, find solutions, and enforce laws created to protect the environment.

Our work toward clean air, clean water, livable communities, healthy ecosystems, viable natural resource-based industries, abundant open space and recreational opportunities and managing natural resources on a watershed-wide basis is performed in a spirit of open and effective government. We appreciate your support and encourage your participation.

Whether you want to register a boat, find the perfect beach, or apply for a septic system permit, or learn about any other DEM-related activity or program, you'll find the information you need here. If you don't, please e-mail Gail Mastrati or Tom Epstein.

As a business, do you want confidential help in reducing pollution? As a municipal leader, where do you go for grants to improve recreational opportunities in your community? As a landowner, could you use help in lowering your tax burden?

Our topics page will lead you to the information you can use. Enjoy your visit. And, come back soon.
