Boating Program
Boating and tubing at Sweitzer

Taking to the water in your power boat, sailboat, jetski, or canoe is a great way to enjoy Colorado’s many waterways.

Whether you're swimming or boating, it's important to use common sense while you’re out on the water. The Colorado Boating Program helps you get underway safely while enhancing your boating experience.

Registration is required for all power boats and sail boats operating on Colorado waters. Boating accidents that result in injury or death, or damage beyond $500 must be reported using a Boating Accident Report Form.  Click the Boatable Waters link for a list of  Colorado waterways to take your boat. Be a safe and competent boater by  becoming familiar with the current Colorado boating Rules & Regulations.

Boating Safely Review Sessions

To attend a boating safety course, review the Boating Safely in Colorado manual, which is available by sending an e-mail to boating.safety@state.co.us. Please include your name, address, contact phone number, and the number of manuals needed. You are then required to attend a review session. The 2009 Boat Safety Review Session Schedule is not yet complete.  Please check back in March for a list of dates and time to attend.

Register Your Boat

To register your boat, complete the Boat Registration Form and return it to the Registration Office at 13787 S. Highway 85 Littleton, CO 80125.   Non registered vessels such as canoes and kayaks must be identified with the owner’s name and address legibly marked on the vessel.

Thanks to funding from Great Outdoors Colorado and the Colorado Lottery, Colorado State Parks can provide outstanding recreational opportunities throughout the state.
