Transportation to and from the Conference

1. By Plane:

Flights from all over the United States arrive daily at Sacramento International Airport. The airport is located along Interstate-5 approximately 12 miles north of Sacramento. Flights can be booked with the following airlines/services (and many others):

SpaceShare: Fly Together, Arrive Together! Share Taxis, Car Rentals or take public transit with new friends! Meet on the flight or train, and travel to the Conference together.

Ground Transportation from the Sacramento International Airport:

  • Rental Car: Most major rental car agencies have offices at the airport. Take the shuttle bus to the rental car offices. Reservations recommended.
  • Taxi: Can be hired in the ground transportation area adjacent to the baggage claim near Terminal A or from near the hotel south of the exit of Terminal B. Taxis charge $2.80 for the first mile and $2.40 for each additional mile. The typical one-way fare to Downtown Sacramento is $27.00.
  • On-Call Van: Super Shuttle serves the Sacramento International Airport. Please visit http://www.supershuttle.com/ or call 1-800-258-3826 to make a reservation. Rates for a shared van (up to 7 passengers) are $14.00 for the first passenger and $11.00 for each additional passenger up to a maximum charge for a chartered van of $50.00.
  • Bus: Yolo Bus (Bus Line 42B) serves Downtown Sacramento and stops at J Street and 14th Street in front of the Sacramento Convention Center and near the Sheraton Hotel. Buses pick-up/drop-off passengers outside of Terminals A and B at Sacramento International Airport. Buses from the Convention Center to the Airport depart from L Street and 13th Street. The fare is $1.50 (one way to/from Sacramento Airport).

2. By Bus

Downtown Sacramento is served by Greyhound Buses. Please visit www.greyhound.com/ or call 1-800-231-2222 for fares and schedules. The Greyhound Terminal is located at 715 L Street in Downtown Sacramento (approximately 1 mile from the Convention Center). Taxis can be hired at the Greyhound Station.

3. By Train

Downtown Sacramento is served by Amtrak. Please visit http://www.amtrak.com for schedules and fares or call 1-800-872-7245. Amtrak trains and buses frequently serve the Bay Area, Southern Central Valley, and other destinations statewide.

The Sacramento Amtrak Station is located at 5th and H Streets in Downtown Sacramento (Approximately 1 mile from the Convention Center).

Taxis can be hired from the Amtrak Station. Light-Rail trains depart frequently from the Amtrak Station and stop at 14th and H Streets (approximately 2 blocks from the Convention Center). 4. By Personal Car

Downtown Sacramento is accessible from Interstate-5, Interstate-80, Highway 99, and Highway 50. Please visit maps.google.com or www.mapquest.com for tailored directions from your point of origin.

Parking: Daily and hourly parking is available at numerous private and publicly-owned parking lots in Downtown Sacramento. Rates vary from $4.00-$15.00 per day. Driving Directions to the Convention Center (1400 J Street, Sacramento, CA):

From San Francisco I-80 (Davis, Oakland, San Jose)

  • Take I-80 East to Sacramento
  • Continue on US -50 East Toward Sacramento/South Lake Tahoe
  • Take I-5 Freeway (Redding turn-off)
  • Take "J" Street Exit (one-way street, East)
  • Take "J" Street to 14th Street
  • Convention Center on right hand side

From Reno I-80 (Roseville, Auburn)

  • Take I-80 West toward Sacramento
  • Take I-5 South to Los Angeles
  • Take "J" Street Exit (one-way street, East)
  • Take "J" Street to 14th Street
  • Convention Center on right hand side

Or

  • Take I-80 West to Sacramento
  • Take Capitol City Freeway turn-off Business 80
  • Take the "J" Street exit
  • Bear left on 29th Street
  • Take a right on “L” Street
  • Take a right on 13th Street, Convention Center ½ a block on right hand side

From Highway 99 (Stockton, Modesto, Fresno)

  • Take Hwy 99 to Sacramento
  • Take US-50 towards San Francisco
  • Immediately get over to the right lane
  • Take 16th Street Exit (one-way street, North)
  • Take 16th Street to "I" Street (one-way street, West)
  • Take a left on "I" Street
  • Take a left on 14th Street
  • Convention Center on "J" Street and 14th Street

From South Lake Tahoe Highway 50 (Folsom, Placerville)

  • Take Hwy 50 to Sacramento
  • Take 16th Street Exit (one-way street, North)
  • Take 16th Street to "I" Street (one-way street, West)
  • Take a left on "I" Street
  • Take a left on 14th Street
  • Convention Center on "J" Street and 14th Street

From I-5 North (Redding) or South (Los Angeles)

  • Take "J" Street Exit (one-way street, East)
  • Take "J" Street to 14th Street
  • Convention Center on right hand side

 

5. By Bike (the weather is rarely too wet or windy to ride in Sacramento)

There are bike racks near the Starbucks at 13th near J Street, as well as in front of the Conference Center box office at 1301 L St
