1 Alberta Invasive Plant Council
The AIPC promotes awareness of invasive plants in Alberta, fostering new partnerships and resource sharing of invasive plant management. You can identify invasive species in their photo gallery, access fact sheet information and keep up to date on workshops and events.
2 Biocontrol Development Program, BC Ministry of Forests and Range
This site is intended to carry all the background and explanatory information about the use of biological control against invasive plants in BC as well as details about the agents and the plants they attack.
3 Canadian Botanical Conservation Network (CBCN)
The CBCN raises awareness among botanical gardeners and horticulturalists to search for alternatives to invasive plant species. Three categories of invasive plants found in Canada are listed in detail that include their origin, location, habitat, invasive potential and control methods. Categories are: trees, shrubs/vine and herbaceous species (including wetland species).
4 Canadian Weed Science Society (CWSS/SCM)
The CWSS/SCM is a national organization representing the interests of its members involved in weed research, extension, education, product development, marketing or regulation and of all other individuals and groups with an interest in weed management.
5 Dow AgroSciences Canada

6 Environment Canada
This website section is dedicated to invasive alien species (plants, pests etc.) in Canada, and features the Invasive Alien Species Strategy for Canada, the Invasive Alien Species Partnership Program (IASPP), links to provincial and federal programs and agencies involved in invasive plant management, and frequently asked questions.
7 Forest and Range Practices Act
The Ministry of Forests and Range manages the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA). The regulations of the FRPA govern the activities of forest and range licensees in BC, setting the requirements for planning, road building, logging, reforestation, and grazing. FRPA maintains high levels of protection for forest values, including watersheds and wildlife habitat.
8 Fraser Basin Council
The Fraser Basin Council is an organization working to advance sustainability of the entire Fraser River Basin, to ensure social well-being through a vibrant economy and health environment. The Fraser Basin Council is responsible for developing the Invasive Plant Strategy for BC, a groundbreaking document that outlines an action plan to address the spread of invasive plants in BC. A call to action from the Fraser Basin Council’s Board of Directors led to the creation of the Invasive Plant Council of BC.
9 Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens, Nova Scotia
Since September 14, 2002 the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens have provided a stimulating and interesting environment for the study and viewing of native flora of the Acadian Forest Region. The Gardens are part of the Acadia University. Information on the "Stepping Up" Workshop on invasive plants in Nova Scotia can be found here, under the heading, "What's New in the Gardens."
10 Hinterland Who’s Who
Partnered with Environment Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), Hinterlands Who’s Who is an across-Canada resource for educators in the effort to protect Canada’s wildlife and the environment. This website provides a broad perspective on invasive alien species through definitions, concerns, history, prevention and methods of containment.
11 Integrated Vegetation Management Association of British Columbia (IVMA of BC)
The IVMA of BC is a recognized organization of professional people dedicated to the responsible practice of all aspects of vegetation management working for and providing information to its members in British Columbia and across Canada.
12 Invasive Alien Plant Program (IAPP), BC Ministry of Forests and Range
Managed by the Ministry of Forests and Range, the IAPP is a provincial mapping and inventory program for documenting invasive plants in BC. The IAPP is being developed for access to both the general public as well as a wide range of agencies involved in invasive plant management.

Coming this summer, you can easily enter the location of an invasive plant, details about the plant and its spread, and submit your information into the IAPP database. If you’re unsure how to identify your plant, a link is provided to the Eflora website photo gallery to assist you.
13 Invasive Plant Management Resources
Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, this website hosts a number of excellent resources related to invasive plant management in BC including reports, field guides and manuals, weed alerts, aggressive ornamentals, and fact sheets.
14 Invasive Species Council of Manitoba
This site contains information on invasive aquatic and wetland plants of Manitoba, including educational resources, information on preventing their spread, and a submission form to report occurrances of specific invasive species.
15 Manitoba Weeds
Outlined in the Manitoba government Agriculture, Food & Rural Initiatives, this site offers a listing of weeds currently affecting Manitoba food crops, scouting techniques to assess their damage, effects on crop quality, yield loss estimations, and control methods.
16 Northwest Invasive Plant Council (NWIPC)
Developed in 2004, the NWIPC is a non-profit organization working to prevent further invasive plant damage to ecosystems of northwest and central BC, and offers a hot-line to report invasive plants. Find management resources, news and events, and NWIPC’s 12 most unwanted weeds list.
17 Pest Management, BC Ministry of Agriculture and Lands
The Pest Management section of the MAL website lists noxious weeds of BC with corresponding regional districts, reports, field guides and manuals, weed alerts, aggressive ornamentals, fact sheets and much more.
18 Saskatchewan Noxious Weeds
A government of Saskatchewan resource, this section of their website provides a list and identification information for Saskatchewan’s most noxious weeds that are threatening to dominate crops, pastures and native areas, and declared unwanted to agricultural and environmental land managers under the Noxious Weed Act.
19 University of New Brunswick Invasive Plants Workshop
This website provides information on the 2008 New Brunswick Invasive Plant Workshop.
20 Weeds BC
Weeds BC can help you identify your weeds, learn how to manage them and find out what can happen if you don't. This site profiles 80 weeds that are currently present in the province or pose a threat to its economy and environment.
