National Arbor Day Poster Contest for 5th grade studentsThe National Arbor Day Foundation and the Illinois Arbor Day Poster contest helps 5th graders become aware of the importance of trees in our everyday lives.2009 Theme is "TREES are TERRIFIC...in Cities and Towns!" The theme is based on the concept "Trees are Terrific....". Each year the deadline is February 20 unless that falls on a weekend, then it is the following Monday. The annual state Arbor Day poster contest attracts nearly 2,000 entries from approximately 50 Illinois schools. The top ten winners and their schools receive awards provided by the Illinois Arborist Association, Illinois Society of American Foresters, National Arbor Day Foundation and the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources.
