52nd Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research

May 18-22, 2009

Toledo, Ohio

Join us for IAGLR's 52nd Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research!

Bridging Ecosystems and Environmental Health across our Great Lakes is the theme of our IAGLR 2009 conference, which focuses on emerging concerns and the interrelationships between ecosystems and environmental health. Our conference will feature multi-disciplinary research on invasive species, ballast water, emerging wildlife diseases, ecological modeling, fisheries, fish ecology, benthic and pelagic ecology, nutrient cycling, Great Lakes corridors, environmental toxins, and much more!

One of our scheduled plenary speakers is Dr. Rita Colwell, former NSF director, distinguished scientist and professor. Numerous activities are planned throughout the week, including a planetarium show, barbeque at the Toledo Zoo, and the 2nd annual IAGLR hockey game. Students will have the opportunity to attend graduate student lunches for networking and applying for jobs and postdocs; as well as a student-only reception. A special session will feature presentations by directors of Great Lakes field stations and programs, following up on those presented at Penn State in 2007.

Stay tuned as there is much more to come!
