Message from the Director
In 1862, our leaders began the vision of a partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture, North Carolina State University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Durham County which has improved our community through the use of research in practical, life changing ways. Today, Durham County Center Extension focuses on the following areas:
Healthy Environments - engaging in decision making
Cooperative Extension recognizes that the needs of Durham County communities and residents are individually unique and constantly evolving. This annual report highlights just a sample of the opportunities, impacts, and programs in action for the past year.
In order to provide programs and services that are effective, we depend on our residents to guide our programming and serve as Extension volunteers. Committed volunteers contributed 12,044 hours valued at $204,748 to serving the people of Durham. We pause and say, thank you! We rely also on the generosity and wise planning of many partners without whom programs would not be delivered to our citizens. We are most grateful for their willingness to be partners in our journey to build a "Healthier Durham."
NC Cooperative Extension is based at North Carolina's two land-grant institutions, NC State University and NC A&T State University, in all 100 counties and on the Cherokee Reservation.
