Grand Opening of 4-H Corn Maze North Carolina 4-H is celebrating its 100th year! Over the past 100 years youth and adults have joined forces to improve their communities. From humble beginnings as corn growing clubs, North Carolina 4-H has grown into the largest youth development program in the state. Halifax County will be kicking off their centennial celebration, “We Are 4-H” with the grand opening of the Halifax County Corn Maze. 4-Hers, alumni and friends of 4-H are encouraged to bring past photos and stories of 4-H in an effort to compile a history of 4-H in Halifax. 4-H members from Halifax County will be there to welcome those interested in being a part of 4-H. Members and nonmembers will have the chance to participate in watermelon seed spitting contest, coloring contests, ice cream flavor contest and games. Prizes and food for all! The Halifax County Horse and Livestock Council will also be hosting an evening ride at the arena. Join us Friday, August 8th at 6:30pm at the Halifax County 4-H Horse and Livestock Complex on Hwy. 903 and discover Halifax County 4-H as you make your way through an interactive pathway through a huge 4-H Clover! There will be no fees for participating in this event! For more info call 252.583.5161. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to RSVP. Halifax County Extension Staff serve the community in a wide variety of programming based on your needs. Each agent offers workshops, trainings, field days, and activities based on their plan of work. which was developed using the eight imperatives for the year 2020 and the Halifax County Mission and Core Value Statement. The focus areas for our programming are: Healthy Children and Families, Safe and Vibrant Communities, Quality Education for all, a High performance Workforce, a Sustainable Environment, a Prosperous Economy, a 21st Century Infrastructure, and Active Citizenship/Accountable Government.
