  • The Crocker Art Museum: A permanent collection of over 14,000 pieces of art including the state’s largest collection of California Art. Current exhibitions vary.
    Adults: $6, Tuesday – Sunday, 10 AM – 5 PM; Thursday, 10 AM – 9 PM;

  • The State Capitol and Capitol Park: Tours of the state capitol allow visitors to view restored state offices, and possibly a chance to watch legislators in action. Capitol Park consists of several acres of gardens (including various memorial and exhibits) surrounding the state capitol featuring many mature, specimen trees.
    Tours of the state capitol are held hourly from 9 am to 4 pm daily. Free.

  • The California State Railroad Museum: Regarded as America’s most popular railroad museum. Located in Old Sacramento, which is also a nice destination for sight seeing, eating, etc.
    Open daily 10 am to 5 pm. Adults: $8.

  • Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park: Contains a nice collection of pioneer and historic artifacts.
    Open Daily 10 am to 5 pm. Free.

  • The Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park: A beautiful historic building where some of California’s first families once lived.
    Open Daily 10 am to 5 pm. Adults: $4.

  • The UC Davis Arboretum: A spectacular collection of plants from California and from around the world. Features over 4 miles of walking/biking paths.
    Located a short 15-minute drive west of Downtown Sacramento in Davis.

  • The American River Parkway (A network of local recreation lands): Features the 32-mile American River Bike Trail that connects Old Sacramento with the town of Folsom. Also, the 302-acre Discovery Park located at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers and features mature riparian forests and recreation opportunities. Ancil Hoffmann Park is the site of the acclaimed Effie Yeaw Nature Center and features interpretive trails through riparian forests with majestic valley oaks.

Childcare Services

  • The Sheraton Grand Hotel, across the street from the Sacramento Convention Center, offerschild care/babysitting services.
  • Discovery Tree Schools operates four child care centers within a short distance of the Sacramento Convention Center. Please see their website for more information.
  • There are numerous child care providers that advertise regularly on websites such as Craigslist.
  • Another option for child care during the convention is to procure the services of a reputable babysitter. Websites such as Sittercity and Babysitters.com are sites where qualified babysitters advertise their services.
