Travel Grant Application

WSRC VIII Organizing Committee is now accepting a limited number of applications for travel grants to help defray registration, accomodation, or travel costs to attend WSRC VIII. The maximum grant amount is US$1,000. The total number and dollar amount of the travel grant will depend on sponsorship funding received by WSRC VIII. The grant recipients will need to provide a copy of air ticket and a copy of passport for reimbursement.

The goals of the program are to increase attendance of young scientists at Conference by providing travel funds for those in financial need and to increase diversity among the attendees. Graduate students, post doctors, and faculty beginning their careers in soybean research related field from developing countries are encouraged to apply.

It is required that applicants submit an abstract of research to be presented at the conference. They will also be asked to write a paragraph expressing why attending WSRC VIII would enhance their career. Two letters of recommendation are required as well.

Selection criteria will be based first on the science and the quality of the abstract, second on the statement about how attending the conference will have an impact on the applicant¡¯s career, third on the strength of the recommendations.

To apply for a travel grant please complete the form in the next page and submit your application to the WSRC VIII Organizing Committee Secretariat Office. Applications must be received no later than February 15, 2009 at paper2009@caas.net.cn. Supporting documents that are not available in electronic format can be submitted by fax or mail, but must arrive at our office by the deadline. Travel grant recipients will be notified no later than March 15, 2009.
