General Counsel

The Office of Records, Policy, and Legal Services assists the university community with creating, implementing and adhering to policies as well as providing university legal services.

It is this office's responsibility to keep track of the university's policies, procedures, administrative regulations and guidelines, which appear on this Web site. The general counsel also suggests necessary amendments and provides the university community access to these rules.

The office advises the administration and others on day-to-day legal questions, reviews contracts and legislation, researches legal issues, provides guidance on personnel and student disciplinary concerns and generally performs whatever services are required.

The general counsel's office receives and responds to all Open Records requests and assists the Blazer Library Archives staff with any questions it has concerning records retention or related statutory issues. The general counsel also works with the Board of Regents’ secretary to place the official board minutes in the University Archives.
