Plant Protection and Weed Control Program

The Kansas Department of Agriculture Plant Protection and Weed Control Program is currently composed of four technical specialists (Plant Diseases, Commodity Exports, Entomology and Weeds), one Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey coordinator, four area specialists, one administrative assistant and a program manager.  Our basic function is to manage plant pests (insects, weeds and plant diseases) that may cause harm to agronomic crops or to the native flora and fauna.  We do this by cooperating with universities, federal, state, county and private agencies.  The Plant Pest and Agricultural Commodity Certification Act and the Kansas Noxious Weed Law provide the authority and direction to carryout these functions.
