Reap Programs

The Mission of the Research and Extension Apprenticeship Program is to...

Provide new experiences and stimulating challenges to young men and women at Kentucky State University (KSU). In this United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) sponsored program, young people will have an opportunity to interact, work, and study with professional scientists, researchers, and specialists in a variety of fields related to agriculture, agribusiness, natural resources, and human services.

REAP will not only provide interns with an inspiring educational experience but will also allow direct interchange with professionals in the various fields of agriculture, agribusiness, natural resources, and human services. This will be achieve through: real work experience with Kentucky State University, Kentucky State Department of Agriculture, Kentucky State Department of Natural Resources, the United States Department of Agriculture professionals, and other agriculture related institutions working in the above mentioned fields, serving as their mentors.

While gaining this experience interns will spend approximately seven weeks on the KSU campus. This is a paid summer learning experience. Living expenses on campus will be provided and interns will earn a weekly stipend.

As a Land Grant University, part of KSU’s mission is to provide service and instruction in the agricultural sciences and human services which is performed in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Interns will have an opportunity to actively participate in these essential and vibrant programs while gaining valuable knowledge of life on a University campus.
