National Severe Weather Workshop - March 5-7, 2009 (1/7/2009 3:00 pm CST) Emergency managers, weather enthusiasts, teachers, students, meteorologists, broadcasters, and vendors in weather data will gather, present, and discuss important interrelated topics over a three-day period in early March. Winter Precipitation Research Project (12/11/2008 12:00 pm CST) If you live within 90 miles of Norman, OK, you are invited to participate in a National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) research project. The project is called the Winter Precipitation Identification Near the Ground (W-PING) Project. More information is available here.
Weather History for January 15 On January 15th and 16th back in 1964, a strong winter storm system dumped 5 to 9 inches of snow along the Red River valley of south central and southeast Oklahoma. The heaviest total was in Choctaw County, where Boswell reported 9 inches.
