Vision
All school-aged children will be healthy and ready to learn in a healthy school environment.
Mission
To promote a coordinated school health program, which consists of eight components:
- Counseling, psychological, and social services
- Health education
- Health promotion for staff
- Health services
- Healthful school environment
- Nutrition services, family and community involvement
- Physical education
Goals
- Increase awareness of the connections between student health and student achievement
- Provide technical assistance, training, support, and consultation to school health programs, professional
school nurses, and school districts for the development and implementation of coordinated school programs
- Promote collaboration between state and local education and health service providers
- Develop partnerships with local, state, and national organizations involved in school health issues
- Develop a comprehensive database to analyze and report school health activities
- Provide statewide leadership and advocacy for school nursing practice
