Our Mission

The mission of  the Atlanta Koi Club is to promote, create and enlarge the hobby of koi keeping, breeding, appreciating and exhibiting; to disseminate information about these purposes to the Membership; to engage in educational and social activities related to our purposes; and to acquire and own such property as may be necessary for any or all of the foregoing purposes.

Club History

In 1989, a group of 20 Atlanta area koi enthusiasts formed the Atlanta Koi Club (AKC) to promote the keeping, breeding, and exhibiting of koi through regularly scheduled meetings and activities. The Atlanta Koi Club is a nonprofit organization, existing solely for the mutual benefit of its members. In 1994, the club established the motto of "Dedicated to Sharing the Joy of Keeping Koi." The current club logo was also designed at that time.

We will have our 20th anniversary in 2009 and also host our 15th annual koi show.   It is a big year for the club!

All AKC officers are non-paid volunteers. The AKC Executive Committee consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Property Manager. Each member of the Executive Committee servers a two year term of office.

The Atlanta Koi Club is a member of the Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA), which is composed of over 104 koi clubs in the United States and Canada. Among other services, AKCA provides free publications on various pond and fish topics, Koi Health Advisor training, Club AKCA Koi of the Year Awards and Certificates, and Club AKCA Koi Person of the Year Certificates. AKCA also publishes the "KOIUSA" magazine.

Since it was formed,  the Atlanta Koi Club has grown from 20 members to proudly serving over 100 members.  We warmly welcome all new members and visitors!
