 There
will be a celebration of Anne's life Sunday, December
14, 1 – 4 p.m., at the Dawes Arboretum Visitor Center,
7770 Jacksontown Rd. SE, Newark.
Those who wish can make a 12" x 12" scrapbook page about Anne—this can be
made ahead of time or on site with materials provided. All pages will be compiled
into a book for Anne's boys.
Anne referred to the cancer as a “speed bump” in her life and faced this greatest of challenges with positive confidence and determined grace. Although the world is a diminished place without her, we know that her irrepressible and creative spirit will imbue OEFFA’s work as we go forward.

I remember the day we hired Anne. We chose Anne because she wanted to work for OEFFA as a way of life, instead of just having a job. Anne never flinched from doing what she thought was kind and right, and the world would be a better place if we all had that same commitment.

Anne had the most creative optimistic approach to any challenge. She was
truly loving and passionate in all that she did. She cared deeply about her
friends, family and living a good simple life. My life is richer and better
for having a friend like Anne. She will always be in my heart.

Anne Farran Bulford, died November 25, 2008 of cancer.
Anne graduated from Columbus Alternative High School in 1986, and from Antioch University in 1998 with a degree in ecology and women's studies.
Anne served as OEFFA’s Newsletter Editor and Communications
Coordinator for nine years. During that time, she touched
thousands of people with her excitement and belief in sustainable
agriculture.
Her creative talents were displayed in our
newsletter, conference materials, farm tour brochures,
Good Earth Guide, and more. Her work truly helped to
create a healthier food system, bring prosperity to
family farms, teach people about sustainability, educate their tastebuds,
and protect the environment.
Before coming to work for OEFFA, Anne spent time volunteering on a Native
American reservation, crewing a tall ship, and studying intentional communities.
She was a single mom to two boys, Peter and
Skyler. Anne helped co-found ZHEAL — the Zanesville the Home Educators and Learners. She was also active in
homeschool groups in Columbus.
An enthusiastic photographer, Anne's love
of nature and the environment led her to buy
a house in the beautiful wooded setting of
Hopewell. She shared this house with her two
boys, seven dogs, a cat, eight chickens, one
fish and a cockatoo.
 Anne not only talked the talk, she walked the walk of sustainability by living a simple life. Her life, however, has been anything but simple these last two years, and her family (Anne’s Mom and Anne’s two sons, Peter and Skyler) is now in need not only of your emotional support but your financial help.

Anne certainly left her mark on this world--her two beautiful children, and her work at OEFFA had its own feel and look--an "Anne-ness" if you will. I wish I got to know her before she became ill. What I found was a woman who was quiet, but intentional, and strong. I admire how hard she worked to get well, and she was with us as long as she was because of her determination.

Oftentimes it is the brief encounter or the intermittant
harmony of interests that, in bringing two people together,
fulfills some very much-needed process in the universe.
It was in this way and, I am quite sure, for this reason
that the rich melody of Anne's life touched mine. It continues
to resonate in me as a clear, high note sung in the service
of life.
