Dear Sir, thank you for the article on table celery. I was looking for pictures depicting the growing stalk up the middle. I have grown celery for 13 years in a gravel culture hydroponic unit here in South Africa. I would appreciate it if you could confirm my understanding.

We put the product in a large cold room running at + 2 degrees.when we are about to dispatch the product we put the product infront of a blast cooling fan which is supposed to take out the remaining heat from the product. I do not think this is usefull since we are usin g the same refrigeration system. Is this a good way of blast cooling produce before dispatch.

Please feel free to contact us with any plans to further your research at any of our facilities both in Mexico and the US. I am a produce buyer and quality assurance manager for The Kroger Company. I am based in Yakima, WA and wanted to say that your sight is very informative, and accurate. I work in the heart of Washington State apple growing regions, and was able to use your info to educate myself further regarding local growing. My only hope is that you will add further studies regarding other issues in orchard management and growing, as well as further studies of commidity defects... many regards Gregg W. I would encourage you to type "biotechnology" into the search field (Search PTRIC) that appears near the bottom of each page of our Web site. Also, here is a link to the Biotechnology topic listings from our Postharvest Publications Organized by Topic section of our Postharvest Library.
